Smart Home

Fans

You will find a smart fan in each bedroom, one in the living room and three on the lanai. The two front lanai fans are controlled by one remote. Remotes can be found mounted on the wall above the associated electrical switches. In the main room, you can also ask Alexa to:

  • “Turn on/off the fans”: This will turn on/off the main living room and all three outside fans.
  • “Turn on/off the living room fan”
  • “Turn on/off the living room light”: This controls the light to the fan.
  • “Dim/Brighten the living room light”: This will reduce/increase the living room light brightness by 25%.
  • “Turn on/off the Lanai lights”: This controls the lights to the outdoor fans.
  • “Dim/Brighten the Lanai lights”: This will reduce/increase the living room light brightness by 25%

Solar

The house is powered primarily by an 8kw sunpower solar system on the roof connected to two Tesla storage batteries. The electrical panel is the SPAN panel adjacent to the main door of the house. The house is connected to the grid for backup purposes. In the event of a prolonged grid power outage, the SPAN panel will turn off power to non-essential items in the house (such as the hot tub and AC system) in a step-wise manner based on battery levels.
